It’s been a busy week, but we’ve got some very exciting news!
Culture Scouts are back from a challenging weekend away, roughing it in the Colo Valley, but no more challenging than running a small business. Investable has teamed up with the City of Sydney to provide local businesses with a Retail Innovation Program. The program lasts 8 weeks, and Culture Scouts was lucky enough to be one of the 15 local small businesses chosen for this program which kicked off with a boot camp last week. The main aim of this program is to help the more traditional bricks and mortar retailers get online, and giving them a full proof plan for the future.
The boot camp took place in the Colo Valley, part of the Hawkesbury region of NSW. This was three days of proper, no phone reception, sleeping in tents, camping. Creel Price, founder of Investable, took the group through a series of team building and problem solving activities, which included tasks such as making a pizza with only camping supplies, and moving water with a bucket full of holes.
The remainder of the course will see the retailers going through both face-to-face and online modules that cover a large range of topics designed to help small businesses succeed. Some previous participants of the project have described it as “like completing a two year MBA in eight weeks”.
